The Chester NJ Spring Craft Show just isn’t for me.
It is a lovely show. I can not explain how well this show is produced. The paperwork is easy to understand, when you arrive you are escorted to your space for set up, you even get some morning cookies. There is always someone around to ask questions of you need to. They even gave out a weather update the morning of the show because bad weather was expected. You get coffee and donuts each day, and load out is simple and painless- they don’t let you in until you are torn down and then again you are escorted to your space and told where to park, etc.
And people come. But for me, not enough people. This show just doesn’t have the attendance I need in order to be able to have a great show. For the people who come (and I estimate between 5-10k) they do buy, they come to spend money. But the show for me is one of my most expensive and the sales just do not equal what I spend on it. This was my second time here, and both years it rained, last year on Sunday, this year on Saturday and for sure sales were impacted by the weather, but I am pretty sure those die hard buyers come early and watch the weather and come when they can.
Like I said, my sales aren’t bad, just not good for the money I spend. I am trying the fall show which I am told is better and I will be on the street, hope fully with more traffic, and the fall is free so it will probably be better attended overall. It is just that this spring show isn’t for me.
